Joe Bradley has gained critical acclaim through his radical approach to painting, applying paint to both sides of the canvas, and allowing the paint on the reverse to bleed through to the front in anthropomorphic shapes. Influenced by artists such as Willem de Kooning, Cy Twombly, and Jackson Pollock, Bradley is also known for painting flat on the floor, which allows the accidental marks and the picking up of paint, dirt, and various other elements.

Bradley received his BFA in 1999 from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI. He has been the subject of recent solo exhibitions at Le Consortium, Dijon, France; Galerie Eva Presenhuber, Zurich, Switzerland; Gavin Brown’s Enterprise, New York, NY; and Almine Rech Gallery, Paris, France. He lives and works in New York.
